We've been learning about the ancient Maya for the past few weeks. We've learned that they bulit elaborate temples and they were great architects. They ate beans, corn and squash. The Mayan lived in huts, the only people who lived in the temples were the priests. The Mayan believed in many gods, such as rain gods, sun gods and corn gods. The Maya could predict when new moons and eclipses would happen. They were very good astronomers. They could feed many people. They ate monkeys, turkeys and other meat. I thought the ancient Maya were fun to learn about.

We have been learning about the ancient Mayans. The Mayans were great astronomers. They would predict when new moons or eclipses would come. The Ancient Mayans believed in gods. They believed there were many gods, like a corn god, sun god, rain god and lots more. The Mayans had priests who through ceremonies for the gods. The Mayans were good gardeners. They ate corn, beans, and squash. They would feed tons of people. They were great architects and they would build large and elaborate temples. But only the priests lived in the temples. The other Mayans lived in small huts made of mud and leaves. Some Maya were hunters. They would hunt wild turkeys, and monkeys and other meat. They hunted with spears and harpoons. I think that the Ancient Mayans were really smart and I
enjoyed learning about them.

We have been learning about the Mayan people, and how they lived.
The Maya were great astronomers they could predict eclipses and new moons thousands of years in advance. The Maya were also very good architects they built big and fancy temples. Even though they built many temples and cities only the priests lived in them the people lived in thatched huts made of mud and leaves. The Mayan people grew crops of corn, beans and squash, the Maya where great farmers. The Maya were skilled in plants and healing. I think that the Maya where very skilled people and even though they did not have the technology we have today.

the Mayans were great architechs and believers in the way the world was made.but what was really facinating was the way they did it and how it was so diffrent from the ways we do it today.like the way they planted, for example, they had a way of planting using the three sisters methode usind squash, beans and corn. the squash helped keep weeds from braking through because it was cercled around the beans and corn. The corn helped the beans stand up and the beans helped keep the sun out of the way if it was too hot. and the way they build the temples and citys were encredible especailly since it was made by hand.

The ancient maya
Leif,Thursday october 13th,2011
The ancient maya were a native civilization who walked the world in the year 300B.C.
They spent there days harvesting crops, making clothes, building and honoring there gods.
the mayans believed in many gods such as, corn gods, sun gods and rain gods.
They lived in small huts made from straw, mud, leaves, and wooden poles.
They built temples around there villages to honor the gods but the people rarely lived in the temples usually only the priests lived in them.
They ate corn, beans, squash, grouse, dear, bores, and small rodents.
The mayans played a game called pokatok.
when playing the game they had two teams, usually one team would be a championship team and the other would be the slaves.
They would armor up and the game was alot like basket ball except you had to hit the ball into a hoop. you couldn't use your hands, you could only use your hips your head your shoulders and your legs.
